OTS Field Staffer Brandon Schmit hails from Rollingstone, Minnesota. He grew up playing baseball and hockey his whole life, while fitting in hunting and fishing anytime he could. He started gun hunting at the age of 12 with his dad Tom and his uncle Brett Schmit, who helped mold him into the outdoorsmen he is today. Brandon still can vividly remember the story of his first nice buck like it was yesterday.
Once he picked up a bow at the age of 15 his passion towards the outdoors blew up. Brandon and his uncle Brett who he calls his brother have been hunting and filming now for 8 years and are not slowing down anytime soon. Brandon has killed 2 bucks on film, and unfortunately missed a few on film also. In 2012 the Schmit boys were out together in stand over 50 times and managed to kill Brandon's biggest bow kill of his life, an 11 point drop tine buck that grossed 163 inches, along with numerous close encounters with shooter bucks.
In Brandon's mind, there is nothing more rewarding than patterning a mature buck and moving in to its territory undetected and being able to have the opportunity to harvest the buck. However, hunting isn't just about the kill for Brandon. His goal is to get out as much as possible to become one with Mother Nature, which helps Brandon become a better deer hunter.
Brandon is looking forward to his career with Over the Shoulder Outdoors. "It has been a dream of mine to hunt and to share my experiences with the world. I want to thank all the guys on the OTS team for giving me this opportunity, there couldn't be a better group of guys here with OTS and I am super excited to start this new journey!"
